Hue Explosion

Blotted ink captivating the page
glistening with deepened sage
fascinating shades of colored glory
hues of violet distinguish the story

Splattered emotion dabbled in paint
featured bleakness chipped; faint
promised tales a splotchy mess
tinctured cerulean must confess

Semblance of pigment quickly stripped
fables of love withheld from the script
circles of complexion cascade the drain
remarkable magic falters, brushed strain.

A Clock Stopped

One wish, if I had it, I would give it to you
Two sides of a life, one was false, now is true
Three years together, all belonging to me
Four eyes point together, two remain free
Five years since I glimpsed my future arrive
Six senses erect toward that which I strive
Seven deaths to enrich the idea of heaven
Eight breaks to decide hope will not leaven
Nine countries to discover for one that I pine
Ten fingers entangled and all of them mine
Eleven ticks of a hand to remind me of seven
Twelve and a clock stops...
Here I find you, in heaven.

Lifeline

Shooting stars embroider dreams
Cloud collage not what it seems
Ocean waves wash printed sand
Lifeline breaks on wrinkled hand

Snake river carves diverging path
Staid rocks transform in windy wrath
Fallen leaves feed promised Spring
Fresh bouquet a new love brings

Nestled warmth 'neath sunset's nod
Forging steps where none have trod
Eyes transformed in mirrored light
Open wide, force-feed the night

Buds on thorns, all caution shed
Storms of visions cast in red
Future bursts with brilliant hues
Wealth of treasure then ensues

Oasis beckons parchment tongue
Awakened senses drowning young
Fortress built to time withstand
Lifeline breaks on wrinkled hand

Temptation

My nemesis calls upon me
once again, as is her custom,
my mind taken hostage
and emotions turned loose.

Though this foe is unwelcome,
I invite her presence nonetheless,
convinced I can befriend her;
she slyly laughs at my naivete.

Her ploy unravels slowly at first,
luring me into one more tryst.
disarmed by the promise of joy
I succumb to her wicked desires.

I have become my own prisoner
yet I hold the key to my freedom,
but still I give her the power
to use me, control me, slowly kill me

Yearning

A melancholy silhouette
stands in solitude
'neath an overcast sky
shivering as cruel winter gales
thrash through her barren limbs
and yet..
they remain outstretched
patiently waiting
a myriad of buds
once more to grace her boughs
and devour her loneliness
in the rebirth
of spring....

Rain

Slowly the world becomes dark.
The wind whips her hair around her,
Moulding it to her face like a second skin.
She tilts her head upwards, catching the first
Raindrops as they fall to the parched land.
Closing her eyes, slowly inhaling the smell
Of wet earth.
Savouring the moisture on her skin.
As if the tingle each drop brings,
Is like the electricity mirrored in the skies above.
The heavens thunder, like nature angrily grumbling.
It starts to pour, raining so hard that the drops
Bounce back off the ground making it seem like
It's raining from above and below!
Smiling, she looks around gleefuly.
Drenched to the core, but strangely, at peace.
With the world.........with herself!

You

Was lost
you came and found me there

No hope
you showed me love and care

Was down
you reached your hand to me

I lied
your truth would set me free

I ran
you wouldn't let me hide

I cried
you dried the tears inside

I dreamed
beside me you dreamed too

I love
and it's because of you...

Storage Space

I rise in the morning,
And you occupy my day.
When night falls I watch the sky,
And wonder if you're okay.

I have you on my mind so often,
Daydreaming in the clouds..
I catch myself above a whisper,
Thinking of you...out loud.

When I'm caught in the rain,
I feel you on my skin.
I hear your breath,
As it travels with the wind.

Saying I miss you..
Are words any one can speak.
But it's the emptiness I feel inside,
That brings me to loneliness' peak.

And maybe it's not meant for me,
To rest with loves embrace.
Maybe my hearts had enough,
And is now only storage space.

Still, I dream about you,
And suddenly you are here.
A fingertip away...

Then you disappear

Phoenix

The death is corroding all beauty and light
The sun slowly dying, gives in to the night
An age for the darkness is waking at last
All beauty is sickly, and fading too fast

But in this mortality, freedom arise
Soars in new dignity, before its demise
A last dying riot of radiant day
A colour eruption, before fade away

The skies in rebellion, whilst lead to their death
Scream of new beauty in their dying breath
The leaves, though the ghosts of their ancestors shade
Wash vivid in colours, eternally made

All existence and living, rampage afore fall
The freedom of Autumn, before cold conquers all
The phoenix of season is fading too fast
The age for the darkness is waking at last

A thousand wishes

I'll love you
As long as the sun continues to rise
The birds remain in song
And stars light up the skies

A thousand times I've wished for you
Many nights passing with no sleep
As you move through this heart
I feel a love so deep

Not once have I forgotten you
Or drifted very far away
And though some time has passed
I still love you the same today

When the rain falls outside
I instantly think of you
As the moon shines in all its beauty
It's you I fall into

Each laugh that we have shared
Every tear I have cried
Late nights spent together
Are all still here inside

Things we've shared, I treasure
Never will they depart
And I will forever love you
As you dwell inside my heart

A thousand times I've wished for you
Staring out into unknown land
And no matter what tomorrow holds
I will not let go of your hand

Reverie

I wish to dream the day away
Lost in thought of yesterday
When tender lips caressed my skin
Drew me down and pulled me in

Those eyes that spoke of raw submission
Mind and body, requisition
Demanding hungers, unquenched thirst
Pounding hearts about to burst

Alas the ringing wakes my mind
I'm back at work and undefined
Within the crowd, just a face
A secret lust I can't erase

I bear the minutes, count the seconds
Through it all your memory beckons
Soon I'll race to be with you
Living what my daydream knew

Iridescent

I wrote this for a friend who is in a tight spot. She knows who she is when she reads this. All I want to say is, have faith, and believe in yourself. Before you start thinking about others, think a little about yourself too. And if you don't, then that is what friends are for!!

I see those rainbows forming,
Deep inside your eyes,
Hope is slowly breaking through,
Your spirit starts to rise.

The beauty in you, I first saw,
Now slowly comes alive,
I always knew you had the strength,
To stand tall and survive.

Cast those demons from your head,
Learn to love once more,
Not just others, but yourself,
Like you did before.

Many falter, many fail,
So many are misled,
Pain exists in every life,
If human, you have bled.

Only you can make the choice,
To see this journey out,
Joy and laughter play a part,
But so does hurt and doubt.

So glad to see those rainbows forming,
So nice to see you smile,
Remember it depends on you,
To make your life worthwhile.

Making Peace

Hand inside the honey jar
Face deep in the dirt
Hold onto what feeds the pain
Then wonder why you hurt

A million choices in the world
Could wash it all away
But bitterness has taken you
Where happy cannot stay

When all you see is what you've lost
You lose all you could gain
Life becomes an empty shell
Pride becomes your chain

Love becomes the enemy
Loneliness your friend
Seasons come and go with time
This life will surely end

Regrets will plague you until death
No freedom to bestow
Reconcile the emptiness
That comes with letting go

Interpretation

I spent the better part of 3 hours in a train, looking into the eyes of a girl who inspired me to take out my pen and write this down right there. This is dedicated to her. I hope she stumbles across this poem and understands how deeply her eyes touched me!

There is a beauty in your sad
Glassy grey eyes,
Quivering ruby pout.
A sadness only pain can bring.

You make me want to hold you,
Love you,
Immortalise you
With some lines from my pen.

As your hair falls across your face,
Shadow takes you.
A living poem,
Capturing your vulnerability.

It is in this infinite sadness
That you are still
A prisoner to the eye.
That is when the mask is lifted from your soul.

No ink,
No verse,
Could truly hold your form.
Could truly define you.

It is a selfish want,
To preserve
Just a small piece of you,
Something tangible, beyond this body!

Taste the night

Taste the liquid crystal sky
The sweetness of the night
Feel the depths of darkness cry
The stars are tears of light

The mirror moon is hung with care
From silver cobweb strands
The darkest backdrop lingers there
Held up with giant hands

No powers can support that ball
No powers can impound
One day from out the sky will fall
And bounce across the ground

Deep blue and endless lake of space
Enchantment of the eyes
A swinging sheet of splendour grace
Encompassing the skies

An icy pool of moon-spun light
Surrounds that hoary sphere
Intoxication of midnight
The wine of shadows here

When day retreats to hide its beams
Then is the night unfurled
And peace seeps out in glorious dreams
Inebriates the world

Hunger

For your warmth,
For your embrace,
Just one more chance,
To see your face.

To hold you close,
And never let go.
To kiss you quick,
Then kiss you slow.

To feel your touch,
Upon my skin,
And send my head,
Into a spin.

To feel the rhythm,
Of your heart.
To be together,
And not apart.

To grasp your hand,
Take it in mine.
And feel the tingle,
Run down my spine.

To be kept safe,
All through the night.
To hear you tell me
"We'll be alright."

For your hands,
To trace my form.
To keep me protected,
And keep me warm.

I have a hunger,
For you and your touch,
And all because,
I love you so much.

One Simple Kiss

The world stopped spinning for just a moment
When our lips touched everything else grew dormant
Nothing else mattered it was just you and me
The world stopped spinning and i could see

That kiss left me breathless as i looked into your eyes
I felt the spark and then came the butterflies
I've never felt this way before
With all these butterflies my heart could soar

I don't know if you felt it too
I don't know if you even knew
The way you looked at me, Time started
When our lips departed.

Your eyes looked at me and told me one thing,
I was thinking it too, you're my everything!
I hope what i thought is right
Should i tell you? I just might..

Tell you how you stopped time in its place
By one simple kiss my heart starts to race
Butterflies overtake me and i begin to smile
I become speechless and can't talk for a while

We sit there and just look at each other
Silently saying we care so much for one another
Breathless and filled with a thousand butterflies
Speechless and happy, what a surprise

I never thought that one simple kiss
Could stop time in it's place, could bring so much bliss

2 A.M.

It has now struck 2am
And I'm still wide awake
This feeling of missing you
I just can't seem to shake

Unable to fall asleep
I'm feeling all out of sorts
Sitting staring at the clock
With you fixed in my thoughts

Only a few hours now
Until I see you again
But the way the time is moving
The night is never going to end

I've tried listening to music
Tried counting countless sheep
I have tried most everything
To get myself to sleep

Nothing ever seems to work
I'll just have to wait it out
The time will pass, the sun will rise
Of that I have no doubt

It's just a game of patience
A lesson I need to do
Cos when the nights completed
My reward is seeing you!

Life started anew....

There is something pure about watching life start anew! Creation is God's greatest achievement. How a plant starts with something as inane as a seed. It has such a tough outer shell and no appendages. But then it germinates, there is a tender shoot where there was nothing just a while ago. Where did it come from? It couldn't fit in there!! Could it??

The shoot grows longer and stronger. A plant emerges from where there was none. And it in turn starts to flower. Some flowers bloom only for a while. And then they are gone. Forever. It kind of makes you think. What was the point? If it had to go so soon then why did it bloom at all? Because life had a purpose for it. Nature has a purpose for it. It helps spread the seed for the next generation. For life to carry on. It also reminds us that nothing is permanent. That nothing lasts forever. That all things, no matter how beautiful, all meet the same end some day.

But all things serve a higher purpose. In the case of the flower, we know what that purpose is. But many times, in the case of people, we may never know what that purpose is. But ours is not to question. We all serve a higher purpose. A purpose which fits into the grand scheme of things. A scheme we cannot see. So we should all try to live life to the fullest, but live it in such a way, that we may discover a piece of that scheme that we are meant for. A piece where we fit in. That my friends is what heaven is all about!

The picture above is of a flower that bloomed on one on my plants. A few hours ago....it was bud. A few hours later....it was gone. But it got me thinking. And this is the product.

Key

The key to my heart,
Forgotten, its vague memory long since have part,
I'd like to know, if you don't mind,
What it looked like, and what kind?

When you stole it was it golden?
Did it shine in the sun?
Set with sparkling jewels,
and links strengthened as to never be undone?

Or was it just plain and simple?
Cold to the touch,
Silver and indistinguishable,
Looks never mattering much.

Was it a skeleton key?
Entrapment of nameless pain,
A symbol of grieving and,
Happiness's ultimate bane

Did it weigh in your pocket?
And play with your head?
Was its presence unbearable,
Keeping you awake in your bed?

Would it whisper in your ear?
A craving for turn of the lock,
Could you ignore its ceaseless cry
And its confident, gloating mock?

Is that why you stand before me?
Empty arms outstretched you see,
Asking yourself why oh why,
You threw away this key...
